Mother Nature's Inn

Mother Nature’s Inn calls itself “North Lake Tahoe’s Pet Friendly Inn” on its own homepage. It’s a cabin-style motor inn on North Lake Boulevard between the lake and the Tahoe City Golf Course — simple, clean rooms with knotty-pine character, priced at the budget end of a lake that mostly runs resort rates.

The pet terms come from the inn’s published policies. The fee is $75 per stay, not per night. Two pets per room, maximum, which makes this one of the few verified two-pet policies in town. Pets stay under control at all times and cleaned up after, and any damage gets billed to the guest. Only certain rooms take pets; the inn’s own room listings mark which ones (“Rm. 3, 2 Doubles, pet friendly,” for example). For comparison, Basecamp down the street charges a $40 one-time fee, so the $75 here runs higher over a night or two and lower over a week.

The inn sits steps from Tahoe City’s shops and pubs, directly across from the lakefront. Commons Beach, the sand across the way, doesn’t allow dogs. The paved multi-use trail along the water does, leashed, and sections of it are plowed in winter. Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows are minutes away by car; so is Homewood.
