Jake's On The Lake

Jake’s on the Lake occupies the water side of the Boatworks building at 780 North Lake Boulevard, at the eastern end of downtown Tahoe City. Two outdoor decks face the lake, an upper and a lower. The lower one is covered, and it’s the one that turns up in every dog report.

Jake’s publishes no dog policy. Nothing on jakestahoe.com, nothing on the restaurant’s Facebook page, and the Instagram account isn’t readable without an account. This listing rests on visitor reports instead, which is thinner ground than most pages here. Tahoe Tap Haus, a few minutes west on the same boulevard, states its patio policy on its own site.

What the reports agree on: dogs on the lower covered patio, at lunch. Two visitors describe eating out there with a dog, one of them noting shade and a water view from the patio corner. Two others describe dogs not being allowed on the deck at dinner. A dog-travel directory carries the restriction in a single line, lunch only, and a North Lake Tahoe roundup lists Jake’s as a place to eat outdoors with a dog without mentioning hours at all. One reviewer contradicts all of it and says the restaurant admits certified service animals only. Nothing published by the restaurant settles that.

Lunch is a narrow window. The restaurant’s own hours put it at Friday through Sunday, 11:30 to 3, with dinner running every day from 5 to 9. The reported dog window is those three afternoons. The cafe menu covers that service: Jake’s Burger, filet tacos, fish tacos, a poké bowl, clam chowder, and the same crab cakes and calamari that open the dinner menu.

Nothing is published about leashing, water bowls, a pet fee, or size limits, and no visitor report mentions any of them either. The upper deck appears in no dog report at all.
