Dog Gone Crazy is the boarding and daycare arm of Agate Bay Animal Hospital in Tahoe Vista, fifteen minutes around the North Shore from Tahoe City. The setup is a kennel building with three cabin sizes, climate-controlled at around 68 degrees, opening onto about an acre of fully fenced yard with trees and natural terrain. Days include two to three play groups.

The gate is the policy. Boarding is reserved for established Agate Bay Animal Hospital patients, and new dogs go through a boarding interview first — this isn’t a same-day drop-off for a visitor whose dog has never been seen there. The published vaccine list runs long: rabies, DAPP, bordetella, leptospirosis, and canine influenza, plus a negative fecal test within the last year and parasite prevention within the last month.

Being attached to a working animal hospital is the trade for that strictness — medical care, dental and ear cleanings, and medication administration are available during a stay. Hours are daily, 9am to 5:30pm for drop-off and pickup, with the office closed for lunch from 1 to 2pm.
