The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte

The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte takes pets, and says so itself. Three lines on the property page, no more: “Pets Welcome,” a “Non-Refundable Pet Fee Per Stay” of $250.00, and a “Maximum Number of Pets in Room” of 1.

What isn’t published matters too. No weight cap, no breed list, and no statement about which parts of the building a dog may cross. Nothing about a relief area. Nothing about water bowls either way. No leash rule appears anywhere on the hotel’s pages, which leaves Mecklenburg County’s ordinance as the operative one on the sidewalk: physical restraint anywhere off your own property.

The hotel holds the corner of Trade and College, in Uptown. The CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar runs along Trade directly out front, and the arena is a block east. Parking, as published, is valet only, $50 a day. Check-in is 4 p.m., checkout noon.

Dining is mid-renovation. The main restaurant is closed for work, so The Fifth Fork operates on the fifteenth floor, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. most days. Sweet July Cafe runs 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 7 to 8 on weekends. Bourbon Steak, Michael Mina’s steakhouse, is listed for winter 2026. None of the three advertises outdoor seating, and the hotel describes no patio anywhere on the property.

Some of the building’s own details: it was the first LEED Gold-certified hotel in greater Charlotte and the first for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. There are apiaries on the roof and a garden the kitchen cooks from. The pool is bromine-treated instead of chlorinated. The spa occupies two penthouse floors.

Green space is a walk. Romare Bearden Park sits about half a mile west, at Church and Fourth. The nearest access to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway is roughly a mile east, past I-277.
