Lucky Dog Bark & Brew sits on Thrift Road in Wesley Heights, a few minutes west of uptown. It’s a dog park with a liquor license, and the door rules read that way. Dogs over six months must be spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and current on shots. The site is blunt about the age line: “If you dog is not old enough to be vaccinated against rabies, it is not old enough to be here.” Vaccine records at the door are optional; without them, a waiver gets signed instead. The FAQ answers the cost question in four words. “Nope, no cover charge EVER!”

Humans face the harder gate. Everyone entering must be 21 or over with valid ID, no exceptions, no kids.

The play yards run off-leash on both sides of the wall, and the Charlotte location has the largest indoor yard of the three Lucky Dogs. Bar access indoors and out. Twenty-plus craft taps, cocktails, and several TVs around the bar carrying the full DirecTV lineup and NFL Sunday Ticket. Attendants staff the bar play yard, but supervision stays with the owner: “While at the bar, your dog is your responsibility.” Cleanup does too.

Three things stay out of the yard — toys, balls, and treats — a rule the site ties to possession fights. Outside drinks are barred as well. Outside human food isn’t: “Can I bring my own food to the bar?” gets a “Yes, absolutely!” Nothing is cooked onsite, and food trucks turn up occasionally.

The same building runs daycare and overnight boarding on an earlier schedule, doors at 6:30am on weekdays. Those require a temperament test first, scheduled in advance and run as a free half-day. The bar doesn’t.

The site doesn’t mention water bowls in the bar area one way or the other. The water stations it does describe, “refilled constantly,” are answered under the daycare and boarding questions, not the dog bar.
