Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel

Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel stands at 303 South Church Street, in Uptown’s Third Ward. Romare Bearden Park is a few minutes’ walk west. Bank of America Stadium is closer still.

The dog policy is published on the hotel’s own pet page, and it’s short. “Pets stay FREE.” No deposit or cleaning fees charged. No size or weight limit. No limit on the number of pets allowed. Most hotels that waive the fee still cap the count at two; this one publishes no cap at all.

What the hotel supplies, in its own words: pet beds “can be delivered to the room upon request,” water bowls “delivered to your room upon request,” and “courtesy bags for walking your dog.” Rooms are grouped onto “dedicated floors for travelers with pets,” and a door hanger goes on the handle so staff and other guests know a pet is inside.

Then the gaps. The pet page says nothing about leashes, so Mecklenburg County’s animal ordinance is the operative rule — Sec. 3-71 requires physical restraint anywhere off your own property, which covers the sidewalk, the lobby, and the elevator. Nothing is published about whether dogs are allowed at Angeline’s, the hotel’s Italian restaurant, or anywhere else in the building outside the guest rooms.

Merchant & Trade, the rooftop bar, sits on the 19th floor with its own entrance at South Church and 3rd. It’s 21 and over, and security checks ID at the elevator before anyone goes up. Indoor lounge, outdoor terrace, a lawn. No dog policy is published for any of it.

The pet page keeps its own list of nearby dog spots: Romare Bearden Park, Frazier Park, the Whitewater Center’s off-leash area, Skiptown, and Lucky Dog Bark & Brew out on Thrift Road.

There’s also a Pet Getaway package. Dogs get a toy and Tryon Bark cookies, plus beds and bowls to borrow during the stay. The human half is a $25 food credit at Angeline’s, house wine, and a sweet treat.
