Commonwealth Animal Hospital sits at 1909 Commonwealth Avenue, in the Plaza Midwood residential grid where Commonwealth runs between Pecan and Thomas. Dogs come in as patients. The one place the hospital’s own site names them is the boarding page: “We offer separate boarding facilities for cats and dogs so our feline friends can have a little peace and quiet during their stay.”
Hours are 7:30am to 6pm Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 1pm Saturday, closed Sunday. Urgent care runs inside those hours, not outside them. The site’s definition: “Pets should go to urgent care for problems needing immediate medical attention, even if they are not life-threatening.” The page asks that clients call the hospital first, at (704) 370-0767. After hours the hospital publishes three referrals rather than taking the call itself. CARE, Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency, at 3726 Latrobe Drive, (704) 457-2300, is the closest of the three, a couple of miles southeast. Boarding is in a “spacious, temperature-controlled” area with cats and dogs kept apart, and drop-off and pick-up happen whenever the office is open. Reservations are encouraged around holidays. Separately, the practice runs drop-off appointments: leave the pet in the morning, collect by end of day.
Two domains carry this name. Commonwealthah.com is the live one, carrying the services, hours, and booking. The address in the OpenStreetMap record, commonwealthanimalhospital.net, is a legacy site still online over plain HTTP with the same phone number and the same three veterinarians, no hours and no boarding page.
Nothing published addresses leashes or carriers in the waiting room. County restraint law applies regardless. Resident Culture’s Plaza Midwood taproom is about half a mile northeast, on Central Avenue.
