Black Moth Bars pours out of a 1960s camper parked in the Boileryard, the open courtyard at Camp North End off Statesville Avenue. There’s no dining room and no indoors. The bar is a window in the side of a trailer, and the seating is whatever the courtyard has out: gliders, fire pits, retro chairs scattered around. The campus water tower stands over the far end of it.
That setup is why the dog rule here is the landlord’s rule. Camp North End’s FAQ puts it plainly: “We’re a pet-friendly community. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome in most outdoor areas (except for the ford green turf) and even some indoor businesses.” The Boileryard is an outdoor area. Ford Green is the turf lawn on the other side of the campus, and it’s the one place the policy names as off limits.
Black Moth itself publishes nothing about dogs. Not on its site, not on its Instagram. Water bowls aren’t mentioned one way or the other, and neither is size. The leash requirement comes from the campus policy and from county law.
Two sets of hours are published and they disagree. Camp North End’s tenant page lists the camper open Sunday 2 to 6, Thursday 7 to 10, Friday and Saturday 5 to 10, closed Monday through Wednesday. Black Moth’s own Instagram lists Friday and Saturday, 5 to 10, and nothing else. The rest of the week the business runs as mobile bartending for weddings and private events, off site.
Parking is free in the surface lot at 1724 Statesville Avenue and free in the lot at 1801 N. Graham Street. The Razades Way garage runs free for the first three hours, then $4 an hour. Camp North End’s outdoor areas are open to the public around the clock; the tenants keep their own hours. NoDa Brewing’s North End taproom is about a mile and a half east.
The cocktail list on the site is arranged by season — Lavender Bees Knees and Southern Rose in spring, Smoked Peach and a Honey-Poblano Margarita in summer. It’s published as the catering menu for booked events. What the camper is actually pouring on a given night isn’t posted anywhere.
